The Welsh Government have recently announced that they plan to U-turn on their 2016 Welsh Assembly election manifesto promise to invest in an M4 relief road. The proposal would have seen a 14-mile stretch of road built as a gateway for investment in South Wales.
Speaking on the disappointing decision, Councillor Joel Williams said; "This is a dark day for South Wales. The Labour-led Welsh Government have cut the strings for further investment in the region."
He continued: "We have already seen £44m spent by the Welsh Government on a public enquiry and other developmental costs that saw the enquiry favour the relief road proposal. It certainly appears we have a First Minister who thinks he knows best when it comes to investment in our region."
